Both modern chypres and rose perfumes are very au courant this season and the new Gucci Eau de Parfum harnesses these two trends in a subtle and elegant manner. Frida Giannini, the new artistic director at Gucci wanted to create a perfume meant for a strong and feminine woman. The idea of feminine strength is revealed here in a very restrained fashion... A fail-proof way to create a perfume I am guaranteed to like is to make it smell Like a Chanel. Or what is my idea of a Chanel (forgive me for quoting myself, in a review of Beige): “…abstract, complex, and, regardless of whether it is full of natural ingredients or totally synthetic, (…) man-made, for a lack of a better term.” …In... Fuel, first launched in 1994 and re-released last year together with another cult-favorite, Chaos, was inspired by Donna Karan’s late husband Stephan Weiss, “who loved the thrilling freedom of speeding down an open road.” Housed in a sleek ablack bottle and coming with the “meant for a high-performance lifestyle” premise, Fuel... Emporio Armani Diamonds is yet another example of one of the most popular feminine perfume note accords that were last year: the rose-amber-patchouli accord. You might have come across it in the major launches of Dior Midnight Poison, Gucci by Gucci, and Yves Saint Laurent Elle, which capitalized on it. Of the scents found in the series alluded to above,... [Read more of this review]
As the summer approaches I want to retain the mood of spring and crave freshness and dewiness more than at the end of winter when all one can think of is about the forthcoming warmer days. As the temperature heats up I anticipate some of the more scorching days of summer and realize that I want to cultivate a freshness that is precisely that of spring,... [Read more of this review]
Omnia Crystalline was introduced in 2005, two years after Omnia. The perfume was created by Alberto Morillas the nose behind many a great perfumes including Flower Le Parfum by Kenzo, Panthère by Cartier, M7 by YSL, and Bulgari Omnia, amongst others. According to WWD, “It started with a notion of transparency and luminosity,” Paolo Alberti,... [Read more of this review]
Lyric Woman by Omani niche perfume house Amouage is rich enough to support a variety of interpretations and can surprise you overtime with its different accents, although I think it is safe to try to encapsulate it as a dark wine-y rose oriental. Although the rose is conspicuous at first, it tends to lose its centrality in the perception of the perfume... [Read more of this review]
Amouage, as is their habit, launched at the same time a duo of fragrances for women and men which in this case turns out to be a dual homage paid to the rose. They being a perfume house shaped by the culture of the Middle East (and that of Oman in particular), it was interesting for me to anticipate how the creative team would work on a masculine version... Ladies, be forewarned here: if you ever decide to visit beautiful Scotland, and opt to wear Trouble by Boucheron, you may provoke not only some “trouble” (the French word) amongst the menfolk there — that is, a gentle, almost shy turmoil of the senses, of an understated, sexual nature — you may downright get yourself into trouble... Midnight Poison by Christian Dior is the fifth perfume in the Poison collection since 1985. It comes after Poison (1985), Tendre Poison (1994), Hypnotic Poison (1998), and Pure Poison (2004). It was one of the most prestigious launches of 2007 as if in an attempt to recapture the glamor of the golden age of perfumery — modeled after the golden... [Read more of this review]
Man by Calvin Klein was launched in October of 2007 and proposed as a new classic for the modern Calvin Klein man, aged from 25 to 40. The name itself is programmatic and unambiguous, like an English translation of L’Homme by Yves Saint Laurent. Simple, brief, to the point. You are going to smell the essence of masculinity if you are to take your... [Read more of this review]

Having the best designer or discount perfumes would definitely make you feel and smell a lot better, but if you do not know the proper way to apply them, then the goal will be unmet. Firstly, the effect of perfume on our brains is not necessarily recognised though the effects are certainly enjoyed.
